KPTU successfully concluded 2021 annual congress with 244 representatives


The Korean Public Service and Transport Workers' Union (KPTU) held the annual congress in 10 different locations nationwide via Zoom on February 24, 2021.

244 out of 362 representatives attended. In the annual congress, representatives passed 6 items including an adoption of a special resolution: assessment of 2020 works and closing accounts, plans and budget for 2021, relocation of the KPTU office, and election for vice presidents and audit committee members. 7 vice presidents and 4 audit committee members were elected with majority approval through direct vote.

Public Services International (PSI) and International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF), the two global s that the KPTU is affiliated to, also celebrated the congress through video messages of the General Secretary.

Prior to the congress, the KPTU held a celebration for the outgoing leadership and the best KPTU branches and members. It also delivered appreciation plaques to 2 organisations which are in cooperation with the KPTU and labour s to resolve irregular workers issues and other labour related issues.

As 2021 plans and budget have been adopted, with unity and solidarity of 240,000 KPTU members, the KPTU will kick off its work and struggle in earnest for great transformation of Korean society by strengthening public nature of public and social services, and guaranteeing all workers&rsquo rights.
